Destiny 2 Causes Mayhem in World of Warcraft Gold Trading
As Destiny 2's latest announcement.
Blizzard has only recently allowed players the ability to Hearthstone card packs.
WoW Tokens are primarily bought and sold on World of Warcraft's auction market using WoW gold. After Destiny 2's announcement, the price of a WoW Token spiked from 110,000 gold pieces to 120,000 gold pieces.
The result looks to be about a 7 percent decline in the real-world buying power of a piece of WoW gold in less than a week. Put another way, the functional price of a $60 copy of Destiny 2 in WoW gold jumped from just under 450,000 gold pieces to just over 480,000 in a matter of days.
Though the sudden increased demand for WoW Tokens could mainly be attributed to Destiny 2's launch on Battle.net, it's possible that news of the Overwatch Anniversary event and limited-time lootboxes may have also helped fuel the fire.
In addition to Destiny 2 PC's debut on Battle.net, Bungie will likely be utilizing an in-game microtransaction model in a similar fashion to its predecessor Destiny. For those planning ahead, this may spell an even greater demand for WoW Tokens in the not-so-distant future, so sell while the gold is still hot.
