Lineage Eternal Additional Information
Developer: NCSOFT (Team Eternal)
Publisher: NCSOFT
Game Engine: Unreal Engine 4
Closed Beta Date (SK): November 30, 2016
Development History / Background:
The original Lineage was released in 1998 and has remained immensely popular and profitable ever since. A prequel titled Lineage 2 was released in 2003 and enjoyed modest success despite never reaching the same level of hype. Lineage Eternal hopes to revive the venerable franchise by making it easily accessible and billing it as a direct sequel to the original. The ability to play Lineage Eternal on mobile devices thanks to cloud hosting opens the game to a much wider audience.
Lineage Eternal has faced several delays since it was first revealed in 2011 at the G-Star games convention. NCSOFT is promising a global release schedule, and the game should finally be ready for beta sometime in 2016. NCSoft announced the first Closed Beta would begin on November 30th and end on December 4th, and be available exclusively in South Korea.
After a series of additional delays, Lineage Eternal as it was first revealed has been scrapped entirely in 2017 and is being re-made entirely with the code name "Project TL". The new game is being led by an entirely new team of developers and is being build on Unreal Engine 4.
