Throne And Liberty KR Previews Siege Golems As Siege Warfare Goes Live On Selected Servers

NCSoft’s series of Throne and Liberty preview videos continues well after well after the highly anticipated MMORPG’s South Korean launch. Their latest preview showcases one of the weapons that players can employ during siege warfare – siege golems.

Let’s start with the basics. Siege warfare will play a key part in the game’s core gameplay loop when the feature arrives on the Korean servers this weekend. It’s basically a free-for-all guild battle for control of the Stonegard Castle, a key location in the game’s storyline and the only place in the game where players will find epic gear crafters.

The controlling guild, a.k.a. the Legion, will receive a 2% cut on all vendor and market transactions within the castle walls, which can then be distributed among the Legions after successfully completing a tax collection event. As you can see, keeping control of the castle will go a long way towards helping you get rich in the game. Siege golems, in turn, will help you and your guild secure the castle itself.

Players will be able to temporarily transform into one of four golem types during the siege period by interacting with Sealing Stones found near Siege Ruins, the starting zones for attacking guilds. The four golem types are: the Gate Crasher, Battle Carrier, Gate Hammer, and Jump Attacker.

Their names pretty much describe their respective abilities. The Stone Crasher specializes in destroying walls, the Battle Carrier transports allies onto the castle wall, the Gate Hammer throws lava balls that deal massive damage to gates, while the Jump Attacker can leap into the air, damaging and stunning nearby enemies when it lands. You’ll remain in golem form until the transformation timer runs out or your health reaches zero.

You’ll need to be at least Guard rank or higher in your guild and have the required amount of Guild Slabs (available at the guild vendor) to transform. Golem stats are also dependent on character stats so it’s best to bestow the honor to one of the more powerful of your guild.

The first siege warfare officially went live today on selected servers in the Korean version, with the remaining servers set to follow suit throughout the weekend.

Amazon has yet to lock in a definite release date for the western version but it’s expected to go down sometime within the first few months of this year. In the meantime, you can check out the Korean golems in action in the new preview video below.
