The Division 2’s New Countdown Game Mode Is Now In Phase 2 Of Testing
Ubisoft has concluded the first phase of testing for The Division 2’s Title Update 15 and is now moving on to phase two. The key features of the update include the new Countdown game mode and major changes to the Expertise system which were quietly rolled out on the public test server on April 1st in respect for the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Countdown will have one team attacking a nuclear power plant while another team defends it, which might hit a little too close to home. Both the new game mode and the Expertise changes, along with new UI features and upgrade bonus fixes are now being fined tuned by the devs on the PTS after gathering over the past two weeks.
On the subject of the PTS, Ubisoft recently penned a dev blog to address complaints about the test server only being available on PC. According to the studio, the process of getting an update certified before they can roll it out on consoles will require additional time that they can instead use to address on PC.
“Since PC builds do not have to go through the certification process, this allows us to react to community swiftly and deploy updates faster and more efficiently,” Ubisoft explains. “Unfortunately, on console it would take twice as much time to release PTS updates as regularly and quickly as we usually do with PC builds.”
The team also cited the PTS that they opened on consoles for The Division, saying that player from that server was fairly limited and fell below their expectations. Player on the console PTS also closely mirrored those on PC negated the necessity for a separate test server on consoles. You’ll find the full dev blog on The Division 2 official forums.
