Ubisoft Slaps The Division 2 Exploiters And Cheaters With Two-Week Bans
Ubisoft has taken a firm stance against players exploiting a bug in The Division 2's Descent game mode to gain an unfair advantage. The company has announced that those caught exploiting the bug will face a two-week ban, and persistent offenders may even be permanently banned from the game.
Descent mode, a roguelike feature introduced earlier this year, allows players to engage in intense battles against waves of enemies to earn valuable skills, talents, and weapons. While it serves as a training simulation for agents in the game's storyline, it also provides an opportunity for players to test and refine their character builds. However, some players have discovered a glitch that enables them to ongoing Descent mode sessions with others, leading to the unauthorized accumulation of experience points and SHD levels.
Acknowledging the issue, Ubisoft has taken swift action to identify and punish players who have been systematically exploiting the bug. In addition to the ban, any progress made through this exploit will be reset. The s of offending players will be rolled back, resulting in the loss of all ill-gotten gains.
“First-time offenders who have exploited this feature will receive a two-week suspension starting immediately and will be unable to play Tom Clancy's The Division 2 during this time,” warns Ubisoft. “Furthermore, sanctioned players' s will be flagged, and any further offense will result in an increased suspension duration. Multiple offenses will result in a permanent suspension.”
The severity of the punishment has sparked discussions among The Division 2's community. While some argue that a two-week ban for a first offense is harsh, it is important to note that the rewards obtained from Descent mode impact the game's overall economy. Players have expressed concerns about the excessive amounts of materials exploiters were able to amass, leading to an imbalance in the game's economy.
Interestingly, the overall reaction to Ubisoft's announcement on The Division 2 subreddit has been largely positive. Although a few individuals claimed they were wrongly suspended or permanently banned on their first offense, many players took responsibility for their actions and accepted the consequences.
