Dauntless Studio Phoenix Labs Secures Investment To Buy Itself Out From Garena

Phoenix Labs has taken its first step towards emancipation after having secured an investment that has allowed the Dauntless developer to buy itself out from Garena, the game development and publishing division of Singapore-based internet company Sea Limited.

Garena acquired Phoenix Labs in 2020 for $150 million following the extremely successful launch of its free-to-play monster-slaying game Dauntless which transitioned to full release with MMO farm sim called Fae Farm. Phoenix Labs hopes that the transition back to an independent, private company will allow it to unlock its full potential.

The of the deal weren’t disclosed but it looks like its already pushed through and Phoenix Labs will be operating independently from Garena and Sea from here on end.
