Phoenix Labs, the developer behind popular free-to-play action RPG 10 new games in various stages of development, from science fiction to fantasy and everything in between, but it appears that some of these projects have been cancelled or delayed.

In February of this year, Phoenix Labs announced that it had secured investment to late 2023,” and that several of the studio’s unannounced titles had been cancelled.

The company has not made an official statement about the layoffs, leaving many questions unanswered. Additionally, it is unknown whether the development of Dauntless and Fae Farm have been impacted by the layoffs, or if the delay of Fae Farm is related to these changes.

Among those who were let go is the studio’s now-former Director of Corporate Communications Justin Kranzl along with several other high-ranking employees including a video lead, senior global community lead, and a video editor.

The lack of transparency from Phoenix Labs has understandably caused concern among fans and industry professionals alike. The abrupt departure of the Director of Corporate Communications has left a communication void that the company has yet to fill. Attempts to reach out to the company for more information have been met with silence, and the company's media email appears to be inactive.

Regardless of the specifics, the layoffs are a disappointing development for those involved and for fans of Phoenix Labs' games. As the company navigates this transition, it remains to be seen how it will continue to develop and promote its existing and titles.
