Niantic Starts Beta Testing Marvel World Of Heroes, Announces Monster Hunter Now
Despite the unsuccessful launch of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, Niantic is stubbornly pushing forward with not one, but two new MMOARG titles - Marvel World of Heroes and Monster Hunter Now.
The studio first teased Marvel World of Heroes last year with a rather ambiguous live action trailer that failed to show much in of the gameplay and hasn’t been in the limelight since. The game is currently in testing in New Zealand, although it’s probably safe to say that things aren't going too well. Forbes has even gone so far as to describe it as “extremely rough,” “unfinished,” and filled with “ugly characters, repetitive and badly animated combat, [and] a strange storyline.” Ouch.
In addition to Marvel World of Heroes, Niantic recently partnered with Capcom to develop Monster Hunter Now, which is expected to be released globally in 2023. It's too soon to make any predictions on how the game will fare though. Hopefully, it will turn out better than Niantic’s previous MMOARG releases.
“For anyone who’s ever dreamed of hunting monsters in the real world, ‘Monster Hunter Now’ brings that fantasy to life,” reads the official press release. “Taking the role of a hunter, players will venture forth and team up with fellow players in order to take down the fiercest monsters in the world, adding a social element to the thrilling experience. Since ‘Monster Hunter Now’ can be played on smartphones, you can easily invite your friends to .”
