The Weekly Raid: What Class Do You Gravitate Towards?
I tend to gravitate towards a class archetype as I bounce from one MMORPG to the next. When I was an edgy teen wearing a black shirt with "Ramones" splashed across the front, I played Rogues: the surreptitious rebels of virtual worlds. Regardless of the game played I chose classes with moves labeled something like "sneak," "cloak," "invisibility."
During my last gear grind I migrated towards casters: wizards, mages, thaumaturge, magicians, David Baline impersonators. Lighting up enemies with colorful spells was a treat. I played a caster in Ragnarok Online (bonus question: which of these was on a private server?).
For some reason I enjoy inhabiting a class archetype for an unspecified amount of time, keeping it the same as I bounce between one game to the next. Then something else catches my eye and I switch. Lately, I'm feeling the call to heal. How long will it last? I don't know.
