NetEase Announces Global Release Plans for Sword of Justice, an Ambitious Open-World Wuxia MMORPG
NetEase Games has officially unveiled its latest project, Sword of Justice, an open-world MMORPG designed for both PC and mobile platforms. Developed by ZhuRong Studio, the game is set in the Northern Song Dynasty and draws heavily on the Wuxia tradition, promising players a detailed and immersive experience rooted in Chinese history and martial arts folklore.
Sword of Justice initially made its debut in China, where it saw significant early success, reportedly reaching over 40 million players in its first month and topping mobile charts. Now, with pre-registration open globally, NetEase is aiming to replicate that momentum as it brings this ambitious project to a wider audience.
Sword of Justice emphasises the following features:
- Expansive Open World: Players can explore a massive environment inspired by classic Wuxia tales, complete with natural landscapes, ancient relics, and hidden dungeons.
- Advanced Technology: The game leverages ray tracing technology and a dynamic weather system to deliver visually striking graphics, particularly for a mobile title.
- AI-Powered NPCs: Sword of Justice introduces a sophisticated AI system for non-player characters. These NPCs have unique identities and can and respond to player actions, adding a layer of realism and interactivity rarely seen in online RPGs.
- Flexible Combat and Multiplayer: Combat is designed to be both visually dynamic and mechanically deep, ing seamless camera transitions and high frame rates. The game also includes social features like guild alliances, mentorships, and in-game romantic bonds.
- Solo Play : For players who prefer to go it alone, the game offers AI companions and over 100 hours of content, allowing solo adventurers to participate in raids and major events.
- Emphasis on Fair Play: NetEase is positioning Sword of Justice as a non pay-to-win title. Progression is intended to be achieved through gameplay, with seasonal resets and attribute caps in place to keep competition balanced.
Sword of Justice s a growing list of MMORPGs seeking to blend high-end visuals, advanced AI, and rich social systems on both mobile and PC. The game’s strong initial reception in China puts it in a promising position as it heads toward a global audience. NetEase, known for titles like Identity V and Naraka: Bladepoint, continues to expand its portfolio with large-scale projects aimed at both domestic and international markets.
While many Chinese mobile games have launched in the West, only a few have seen meaningful success (Hoyoverse titles like Honkai: Star Rail are among the few to do well internationally).
