League of Legends 

2016 League of Legends KeSPA Cup

The 2016 LoL KeSPA Cup was a tournament organized by KeSPA, Riot Games, and NAVER that featured 14 teams from Korea. These teams played for ₩100,000,000 Won (~$87,547 USD) and a qualification for IEM X Gyeonggi. The tournament ended with the ROX Tigers coming out as the champions. Most significantly, the ROX Tigers beat out their long time rival, SK Telecom T1, 2-0 in a thrilling series.

Intel Extreme Masters Season XI -Oakland

 

IEM Season XI - Oakland is the second event of IEM Season XI and took place at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California. The tournament featured eight teams divided into two groups. The top two teams from each group qualify for the Playoffs. The games took place from November 19-20.

With the absence of Doublelift, TSM struggled and notably lost against the Unicorns of Love. UoL went on to win the entire tournament 3-2 over the Flash Wolves.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Esports Championship Series Season 2

The ECS, or Esports Championship Series, is in its second season. Ten teams from both Europe and North America are in a round robin and playing against each other in two best-of-one series. The regional stage lasts from October 7th to November 13th. The top four teams advance to the Season 2 Finals while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Season 3 Promotion.

The Season Two Finals take place from December 9-11th at the Anaheim Arena in California. As the largest CS:GO event ever in Southern California, the top four teams from NA and EU will be competing for over $750,000.

ELEAGUE Season 2

ELEAGUE was the first CS:GO league to be streamed on broadcast television and has just started its second season. With a $1,100,000 USD prize pool, the league goes from October 21st to December 03.

The Group Stage has finished with some surprising results.

Intel Extreme Masters Season XI Oakland

IEM Season XI Oakland took place from November 16-20 with 12 different teams playing for a $300,000 USD prize pool. Despite not doing particularly well in the Group Stage, Ninjas in Pyjamas were able to advance to the finals and beat SK Gaming 2-1 to win $128,000 USD and become the IEM Season XI Oakland Champions.

Dota2 Professional League Season 2

The Dota2 Professional League is China's first large-scale individual eSports league. There are two leagues: the Top League and Secondary League, with ten teams in each. Each team plays in a best-of-two Round Robin. With a prize pool of $900,000 USD, the tournament runs from September 19th to December 31st.

The Summit 6

Organized by Beyond the Summit, The Summit 6 features eight teams playing for a $100,000 USD prize pool in a double-elimination bracket from November 16-20. In a dominating fashion, Virtus.pro beat OG in both the Winners' Finals and Grand Finals. With this win, Virtus.pro won $42,500 USD.

Overwatch

 Overwatch APEX Season 1

Overwatch APEX is Overwatch's first major tournament in Korea. With about $178,000 USD on the line, 16 teams from around the world will be competing from October 7th to December 3rd. The format involves a Round Robin where all matches are best-of-five with the top two teams advancing to the Playoffs. The Playoffs have best-of-five Quarterfinals and Semifinals and a best-of-seven Final.

Overwatch League

The Overwatch League will start in 2017, where each team will represent a city around the world. The owners of each team take an active role in developing players, internal structures, and team roles. The league also guarantees stability for teams and players. This format deviates from other leagues that have relegation systems. This league is Blizzard's attempt to dethrone League of Legends as the top eSport and spells exciting things for the industry going forward. Watch the videos below for more information!
