Lord of Vermilion Arena Overview
Inspired by the popular arcade series Lord of Vermilion, Square Enix offers a new twist on the MOBA genre. Players collect a library of cards and decide which six to equip for each match. Matches take place on three lane maps with two opposing teams of seven players. Each player uses mana to summon minions of varying strength and mana cost. Mana is acquired by destroying enemy minions and towers.

Development History / Background:
Lord of Vermilion Arena will be the the first MOBA game from Japanese studio Square Enix. The original Lord of Vermilion is a fantasy themed arcade game where players collect cards and scan them at their local arcade to battle one another. Released in June 17, 2008, the game proved popular and spawned several sequels including Lord of Vermilion II (October 27, 2009), Lord of Vermilion Re:2 (July 26, 2011), and Lord of Vermilion III (August 22, 2013)
One of the distinguishing features of the Lord of Vermilion series is its inclusion of characters from other franchises including Final Fantasy, Magic: The Gathering, The King of Fighters and many others.
The game was shut down on June 30, 2016.
