Z8Games was founded in 2009 and is a partner company to Smilegate Entertainment and Smilegate West, that changed its name in 2014 from G4Box. All of these companies are part of the Smilegate Group, a large company that has a large number of subsidiaries. Smilegate helps young aspiring game creators in Korea in various ways such as the Smilegate hip Program and the Smilegate Game Development Contest.
