Bigpoint Games was founded in 2002 by Heiko Hubertz and was initially known as m.wire GmbH. The company is currently based in Hamburg, with offices in Berlin and San Francisco. Bigpoint initially focused on sports simulation games and then expanded to more complex and visually impressive games, that provided a unique gaming experience while still being playable in a web browser. Since the company was founded, Bigpoint Games has become one of the biggest and most successful online game companies. They now have more than 800 employees and millions of ed s worldwide, across 50 games that have been translated in more than 25 languages. Bigpoint Games was also one of the first European game developers to adopt a micro-transaction model which was already widely used by Asian game developers. Micro-transactions now make up over 90% of the company's revenue which was estimated at 20 million Euros in 2008.
