Wurm Online Developers Are Reportedly Leaving Game Chest Group In Droves
Game Chest Group’s acquisition of Code Club isn’t going as smoothly as both parties had hoped. According to hundreds of leaked internal communications, developers are leaving the studio in droves, citing an “overwhelmingly negative workplace culture” as the reason for their departure.
Game Chest has yet to confirm the leak but its CEO Krister Elmgren did reveal that at least four “valuable” team have left the studio. He also itted that Wurm Online’s new website launch didn’t live up to their expectations.
“The website launch was less than satisfactory and I take the opportunity to thank you for your and to say that I am sorry,” he said. “It hurts me seeing the backlash the team has been subjected to. The team did not get the opportunity to add their input to the website before launch. The quality assurance is my responsibility, and I did not uphold the quality you deserve.”
Meanwhile, it looks like Elmgren’s plans to rebrand Wurm Online, expand its cash shop, and retire in-game traders is still a go despite the mass exodus from the company and the underwhelming launch of the sandbox MMORPG’s new website.
