Wayfinder’s Next Update Will Overhaul Its UI And Tweak Damage Reduction Effects
Airship Syndicate continues to fine-tune Wayfinder with an patch that will introduce major changes to in-game menus, another round of balance changes, and quality-of-life improvements.
The bigger half of the update will focus on giving the entire interface a fresh coat of paint to make it look sleeker and make it more -friendly. That includes an overhaul to basically every in-game menu, from the character screen and inventory to the crafting menu and world map. The latter will also be updated with a new sub-menu that will allow players to fast travel to any discovered Signal Fire with just two clicks of their mouse.
The rest of the patch will be dedicated to more combat balance adjustments, particularly to how damage reduction is calculated. The changes are designed to reduce damage spikes when dealing damage to lower-level opponents and receiving damage from higher-level ones like bosses and hard-hitting mobs.
“Previously damage reduction was calculated by comparing a Wayfinder's Physical or Magical Defense to the base Weapon or Ability Power of the attack hitting them,” Airship Syndicate explains. “Now, rather than comparing defense to the base power of an attack, defense is compared to a standard value based on the enemy's Power Level.”
“With this system, the damage reduction percentage given in the stats page is the percentage reduction against attacks from same-level enemies,” adds the devs. “Damage reduction percentage will change slightly when fighting enemies at a higher or lower Power Level, but it will be far more consistent with this system than it was previously.”
Players can also look forward to a handful of weapon skill and ability buffs, increased accessory drop rates from chests, and lootable consumables.
Airship Syndicate has yet to lock in a release date for the patch, but you can learn more about what’s coming in the preview patch notes here.
