Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade Is Shutting Down In September

After just five years in live service, Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade developer and publisher Behaviour Interactive is calling it quits. The studio has announced their plans to shut down the online sci-fi shooter on September 10.

“The servers will be closing on the 10th September 2021. Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade will no longer be playable at this point. We are proud of all of the work that went into Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade, and for the amazing community that rallied behind the game. Thank you for everything, we appreciate all of your through the years.”

Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade launched in September 2016 to mixed reviews to mostly negative reviews from the community. The game adapted a free-to-play business model a few years ago in an effort to bring in more players but it ultimately proved unsuccessful as player numbers continued to dwindle over the succeeding years. According to SteamCharts data, peak player numbers haven’t broken the 200 mark since September 2019.
