Warframe’s Techrot Encore Update Arrives in March Alongside Soulframe Pre-Alpha Update
Digital Extremes, the studio behind the long-running looter-shooter Warframe, has unveiled its early 2025 roap, headlined by the Techrot Encore update for Warframe: 1999 and new pre-alpha content for its fantasy MMO Soulframe. The updates, revealed during a January 31 devstream, emphasize community-driven events and experimental gameplay ahead of July’s TennoCon 2025.

- Technocyte Coda Boss Fights: Battle Infested versions of the boy band On-lyne for 13 new weapons.
- Temple (60th Warframe): A music-themed frame focused on “glam” mechanics.
- Protoframe Skins: Four new Gemini cosmetic skins for Warframes, teased as ‘90s-inspired.
- Relationship System Improvements: Expanded romance options for NPCs.
- Collaborative Music Track: Featuring Periphery’s Jake Bowen and Mark Holcomb, plus vocalist Elliot Coleman.
- Scaldra Gear: A pistol, sickle, rifle, grenade launcher, and Drifter cosmetics themed after Warframe: 1999’s setting.

Soulframe Pre-Alpha Updates
Digital Extremes’ fantasy MMO Soulframe, currently in pre-alpha testing, will expand in 2025 with:
- New Fable Quests: The Shewolf Snared introduces a wolf companion, Orengall, with abilities like summoning pups and turning enemies.
- Faction System: Players align with one of three factions, influencing procedural quests later in progression.
- New Ancestors: Atajan (Order of the Gyres founder) and Pothia (Battle Mother).
- Environments: The corrupted region Neath’uns and expanded island Midrath.
- Voltaic Casters: A forgotten weapon type focused on electric magic.
Warframe, celebrating its 12th anniversary in 2025, continues to to introduce regular updates. Despite the games age, it still remains incredibly popular, averaging 53,000 concurrent players on Steam. While Warframe seems to be firing on all cylinders, Soulframe’s full launch remains distant, with no release window announced.
