Square Enix Goes Full Steam Ahead On Its NFT Game ‘Symbiogenesis’, Official Website Now Live

You’d probably think that Square Enix would have given up on its plans to dabble in blockchain gaming, but it’s still moving forward with its plans to launch an NFT game called Symbiogenesis. The game’s website has just gone live with more information about the blockchain title that’s being billed as “narrative-unlocked NFT entertainment.”

The website talks up the game’s 10,000 NFT character, gameplay mechanics that revolve around finding hidden items across a floating continent, and the benefits of purchasing and owning NFTs, which includes earning points, rising through member ranks, and access to story missions. Only three players will apparently be able to take on the final mission, which, in theory, should make NFTs valuable in the game.

The game will also attempt to bring together Web2 and Web3 to find out whether the two technologies will be able to function side by side. “Can Web2 and Web3 live together in symbiosis? Or will the two approaches necessarily conflict? What kind of interesting aspects can this decentralized approach bring?” reads the website. “By playing through Symbiogenesis, perhaps you will reach this answer.”
