Skull And Bones Offers A Hands-On Preview Of Its Endgame Content In Blog And Video Form
Ubisoft dropped a new dev blog that offers firsthand s of Skull and Bones’ endgame content, penned by its very own writer and editor Brittany Spurlin. While we expect there to be some bias in her tales of life on the high seas, it does give readers a good idea of what the multiplayer pirate game has in store for you once you’ve completed the initial journey from shipwrecked outcast to “kingpin of the seas.”
“As a kingpin, you'll have the power to take on difficult endgame events and challenges to earn more riches and unlock new items, but that's just the start,” writes Spurlln. “Skull and Bones' first year will bring four seasons of new enemies to the Indian Ocean, starting with a pestilent pirate lord who rains poison from the sky.”
Those challenges will come in the form of Hostile Takeovers and Legendary Heists. The former is a PvPvE territory control event where players attempt to seize an outpost with a production chain by destroying its defensive towers while fending off a fleet of AI-controlled ships and other players looking to nab the outpost for themselves. The player who deals the most damage to the towers will be awarded control of the outpost and its factory.
Legendary Heists, on the other hand, are co-op events where you and your friends will be tasked with attacking a heavily armored merchant convoy to steal their precious cargo. You’ll then need to transport the stolen goods and deliver them to an interested buyer to gain control of another income-generating asset known as manufacturers. There’s still PvP involved though, as other groups will be able to steal the goods for themselves while its enroute to the buyer.
Part of the life of a Kingpin also revolves around fighting massive sea monsters and a different pirate lord every season, at least for the game’s first year anyway. It’s unclear whether Ubisoft will following the same format for next year’s seasonal content.
The dev blog also comes in video form with actual in-game footage showcasing ship customization, combat, and navigation. You can check that out just down below.
