Paladins Announces New Battle Royale Game Mode
Hi-Rez Studios, announced a new Battle Royale game mode named "Battlegrounds" this week at Hi-Rez Expo 2018. This announcement makes Paladins the first ever "Hero shooter" to feature such a game mode. Battlegrounds will be free to play for all Paladins players upon release and is set to launch sometime later this year.
“Riding on a mount through this massive fantasy-themed map, looking for gear and cooperating with your team, Paladins: Battlegrounds delivers some of the feel of open-world MMO PvP but all within a 20-minute match,” said Todd Harris, Executive Producer of Paladins.
The new game mode is set on a huge map that's over 300x the size of a typical Siege map on Paladins and has players fighting it out with 100 others to be the last one standing. There's no doubt that this new game mode was inspired by Playerunknown's Battleground's success. You can't blame Hi-Rez for jumping on the bandwagon either. Epic Games struck gold with Fortnite's Battle Royale game after the original Fortnite never gained much traction.
Besides the new Battlegrounds game mode, Paladins also announced its 35th Champion, Moji which is set to launch soon as well as a new Team Deathmatch game mode. The first new content update of 2018 is set to launch on January 10th, 2018 on PC and January 17th, 2018 on consoles.
