Fall Guys Studio Mediatonic ‘Decimated’ By Mass Layoffs At Epic Games
The mass layoffs at Epic Games which saw 830 employees lose their jobs and another 250 pawned off to newly-spun out companies apparently included most of Mediatonic’s employees. The studio is best known as the developer of cutesy platformer battle royale Fall Guys and was acquired by Epic Games back in 2021.
According to several Mediatonic developers, the studio was “decimated” by the layoffs with several reports claiming that the entire studio was shut down. While its true that most of the team was sacked, Epic Games denied that they had laid off the all of the studio’s employees.
A thread on subreddit has compiled a list of employees that were laid off and it looks like they were mostly from the art, writing, and video teams.
While it's true that Epic Games-owned Mediatonic (Fall Guys) was hit very hard by today's mass layoffs, reports/rumors that the entire studio was shuttered are not true.
