Fix Underway For Fall Guys Auto-Purchase Cash Shop Bug
Fall Guys, Mediatonic’s bouncy bean battle royale, has proven to be wreaked havoc on the servers and resulted in all sorts of issues. Now, the studio is dealing with a cash shop bug that’s inadvertently robbing players of their currency.
Numerous players have reported being auto-charged while browsing through the cash shop without any sort of confirmation, as documented by one player:
This new shop is a joke, was checking out some items and it literally auto purchased this faceplate I will never use. At least have a confirm button or something. Not even a cancel purchase button? My controller does not have any issues with stuck buttons or double pressing when not intended. from FallGuysGame
To make matters worse, customer representatives were apparently unaware of the bug and accused players of lying to get a refund. “You have stated that this is a ‘bugged purchase’ and a ‘known issue.’ Neither of these things is the case. The purchase was made by you, not a bug. Whether it was intentional or not, this is still the case,” a rep reportedly said.
“This is not a ‘known issue’ because it is not an issue. Items cannot be bought automatically by the system, they always require input from the player. Again, whether accidental or not, you made this input and purchased the item. As per our EULA, which you agreed to, all purchases are final and will not be refunded,” added the rep.
Mediatonic, however, later acknowledged the issue and that the representative’s response was unacceptable. “What is happening in the game is not intended and we are actively fixing it,” a spokesperson told PCGamer. “The customer service response was also not acceptable and we will offer a make good for all affected.”
The studio also apologized on Twitter and assured the community that they’re working on a fix and that all refund requests made from June 21st until the fix is deployed will be processed. All players will also receive the coveted color-changing legendary-tier Grandis costume as compensation.
