Hearthstone Will Get One Last Major Update To Its RPG-Like Mercenaries Mode

Hearthstone’s RPG-like Mercenaries system will be getting one last major update before Blizzard switches its focus back to the traditional game modes. The update will introduce six new mercenaries, five new factions (for a total of seven), and the addition of dual-type mercenary cards.

In line with the update, existing mercenary cards will also be updated retroactively to reflect their new dual-type attributes. Mercenary abilities, equipment, and treasures will also be reworked to indicate the new factions and to tie them in with the new Mythic Boss Rush system which will also be arriving with the update.

The Mystic Boss Rush system is a new endgame activity within the Mercenaries mode that will feature a weekly rotation of boss fights with random mechanics. Successfully defeating the bosses will reward players with Renown which can be used to upgrade mercenary cards beyond their soft cap.

Once the update goes live sometime in the near future, the developers will then return to updating and improving the base game and the Battlegrounds mode but will continue to roll out bug fixes and balance adjustments for the Mercenaries mode as needed.

“To everybody who has ever chased a Bounty or gathered around the Campfire, we thank you for making this chapter in Hearthstone’s history special, and we hope you’ll enjoy everything Mercenaries has to offer in 25.4,” Blizzard concluded.
