Grimm: Dark Legacy Brings Online Rogue-Lite Gameplay To Steam Today
Closed Beta s opened in May, but the game appeared in Steam's releases list yesterday, seemingly out nowhere, before releasing earlier today.
Some details about the exact nature of the game appear to be missing, but it is an online rogue-lite in which you can party up with up to three other players, but, even if you don't, you can still run into players in the open world. Maps are randomly generated, but each one is based on a specific real-world location. There is an overarching story consisting of four to six mandatory missions per country. Death will have different meanings based on the difficulty you choose: Easy, Rogue, or Iron Man. For example, should you die on "Medium difficulty," which I am assuming is Rogue mode, you will lose all progress made in the country you are currently in. Oh, did I mention that every one of the game's cutscenes is voiced over?
While the game was previously intended to be free-to-play, following from Beta s, Artplant and GAMESCO made the decision to remove all microtransactions and charge a one-time fee of $14.99 instead. According to developer MrCrispy, this allowed the team to add features that "just [weren't] compatible with the previous model," like varying levels of difficulty. The team also anticipates that it will let them "do a lot more with the game in the long run."
Grimm: Dark Legacy is available now on Steam for $14.99.
