EVE Online Sets The Stage For Its Uprising Expansion With An ‘Extreme Stellar Event’
EVE Online is paving the way for its Uprising expansion with a bang as an “extreme stellar event” rocked New Eden yesterday and devastated the Turnur system. The event in question was brought about by the destabilization of the Turnur star which eventually led to a massive radiation and plasma burst that caused mass destruction and casualties throughout the system.
“At 17:00 New Eden Standard Time on 2 November, the planet closest to Turnur was scorched beyond recognition after being hit with intense radiation and superheated plasma from the star,” C reported.
At least one player-controlled station was destroyed during the explosion and pilots in the vicinity reported taking 80% damage to their ship hulls. The destruction was further compounded by a space battle that was sparked by pilots turning on each other to capitalize on the damage inflicted to other ships by the radiation and plasma wave.
The Turnur 1 system has also been permanently scarred by the catastrophic event, particularly the first planet closest to the star. Multiple wormhole connections have also mysteriously opened up apparently as a result of the event.
All of this will somehow tie in with the big faction war update that will be arriving alongside the Uprising expansion on November 8th. The star explosion on Turnur is all part of C Games new focus on delivering narrative-driven content to explain gameplay changes and new mechanics.
