EVE Online Player Pulls Off What Might Be The Biggest Heist In The MMO’s History
In a dramatic tale of betrayal, an EVE Online player made off with over 4 trillion ISK in assets from one of the biggest alliances in the game and destroyed 2 trillion more in what might just be the most lucrative heist in the sci-fi MMO’s history.
According to a Redditor’s of the events, a high-ranking member of the Goonswarm alliance named AmazingJay used his director-level access to move all transferable assets from the alliance’s headquarters to his personal inventories and hangars. Those included titan-class, supercapital, and capital ships, some of which took weeks to construct, hundreds of billions worth of items, and a boatload of in-game currency.
He also created contracts to grant himself ownership of unmovable assets, including priceless space stations with unique bonuses that are no longer obtainable in the game. In the process, he also decommissioned the headquarters’ station services including the Clone Bay where thousands of backup bodies are stored, most of which had neural implants that can easily go for billions of ISK. It’s unclear how many bodies were destroyed but it’s undeniably put a massive dent in thousands of players’ pockets.
