Escape From Tarkov Adds New Urban Zone And Snow, Teases Story Quests In 2024
Escape from Tarkov rolled out Beta Patch 0.14 last week which might just be its biggest updates since its closed beta launch in 2017. The massive update brought a whole host of new content to the extraction shooter, the highlight of which is a new beginner downtown urban zone called Ground Zero.
Ground Zero features towering skyscrapers, restaurants, cafes, stores, banks, pharmacies, and more, with TerraGroup’s main office smack dab in the middle. It’s accessible to PMCs from level 1 to level 20 and to Scavs of any level and offers several new starter quests and new visual cues to help point new players in the right direction.
Patch 0.14 also introduced a new boss named Kollontay in the Streets of Tarkov, a pair of henchmen for Kaban, and a revamped version of the Shoreline map. It also marked the changing of the season in the fictional game world with a blizzard sweeping across Tarkov to blanket the city in snow. It’s not just a visual touch up though, as footsteps now sound different when traversing through snow.
The blizzard is part of Escape from Tarkov’s new seasons feature that will match the seasons in the real-world going forward, presumably based on the prevailing season in Eastern Europe.
Meanwhile, game director Nikita Buyanov teased the arrival of actual story content and quests for the PvPvE title in 2024 which will finally allow players to actually escape from the titular city and complete the game.
