Dark And Light Devs Talk About Worldbuilding

Dark and Light team recently posted a developer interview that talks about worldbuilding. The interview focuses on the inspiration, design, and development of The Sacred Path, the game’s first major playable area.

“Our main design goals with Dark and Light and The Sacred Path in particular are to create a fantasy world that’s immersive and exciting, with plenty of space for players to just choose a direction to explore in, but with enough content and secrets for players to discover naturally. We didn’t want it to be a theme park where players just visit the same areas in the same order, and we also want to let all players on a server have their own space to create and build in without feeling crowded.”

The Sacred Path is made up over 20 unique zones which include cities, forests, shipwrecks, complex cave networks, and floating islands. Unfortunately, players will only be able to reach these floating islands and discover its hidden gems when they’ve acquired a suitable flying mount later in the game.
