Dark And Darker Is Coming To Mobile Devices In Partnership With Krafton

Nexon’s copyright complaint against Dark and Darker might have just hit a big bump in the road. The game’s developer, Ironmace, recently entered into a licensing agreement with a different South Korean publisher in the form of Krafton to bring the battle royale dungeon crawler to mobile devices.

“Drawing from its expertise in transforming global gaming IPs for mobile audiences, notably the colossal success of the complementary PUBG: Battlegrounds with PUBG Mobile titles, Krafton sees Dark and Darker’s innovative fusion of battle royale survival elements with dungeon crawler exploration as a perfect fit for its catalog,” Ironmace said in the official press release.

Krafton wouldn’t knowingly enter into a partnership with Ironmace if it felt that they were on the wrong side of the lawsuit, right? While there’s currently no information about the mobile port and how it will differ from the PC version, we can likely expect both parties to drop a few tidbits here and there as development progresses.

Meanwhile, Ironmace is fighting a simultaneous battle on a different front as cheaters wreak havoc in the game. The studio asks players to share footage of cheaters and other illicit behavior on Discord over the next month so they can take necessary action against them. The team also recently removed the paywall to unlock classes in response to player complaints.

“We had believed that unlocking classes through the new currency system could be an acceptable compromise to the add-on packs system since we allowed players to unlock characters through in-game progress in addition to the payment option. We realized that having such a vital feature locked in this way was a mistake,” the developers itted.

“Our plan moving forward is to remove the unlock requirements for all new classes,” they added. “We plan to return all currency spent in unlocking classes back to the in a future update.”
