Dark And Darker Scraps Multi-Classing For Now, Tweaks Rewards And Matchmaking System

Dark and Darker is being scaled down as Ironmace Games decides to scrap its multi-class feature for the time being. The first iteration of the feature apparently didn’t do too well in practice and has been put on the backburner just over a month after it was rolled out onto the PvPvE dungeon extraction game’s live early access build.

“In accordance with our previous announcement, we have now removed the multiclass system,” the studio said on Discord. “Although the experiment was crazy and chaotic, we learned a lot from the test, especially under the hood.”

This week’s update also made changes to the rewards for successfully making it out of high-stakes dungeons and tweaked the matchmaking system so that it now bases off of the highest gear score in the group instead of its average gear score. Obviously, this change puts groups with large gear score disparities at a huge disadvantage.

The studio also acknowledged that the current season ended up being a though one but says that they learned from the experience and that they have “very high hopes” for the game. More information about the next season is expected in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the studio just released a new gameplay trailer showing how a well-organized group quickly took down a powerful troll. You can check that out right after the jump.
