Development History / Background:
Development on Hytale began in 2015 by the developers behind the custom Minecraft server Hypixel. The studio raised funding from Riot Games and publicly revealed Hytale on December 13, 2018. On April 16, 2020 Riot Games wholly acquired Hypixel Studios, turning Hytale in an in-house project. The game was originally scheduled to release in 2021, but in July 2021 it was announced that the release would be pushed back to 2023 at the earliest.
