Ultima Online Celebrates Its 26th Anniversary As New Legacy Testing Continues

MMORPGs, is celebrating its 26th anniversary, marking 26 years since the term was first coined by the game’s creator, Richard Garriot. To celebrate the occasion, Broadsword is giving away an anniversary gift bag to all characters that are over 30 days old.

“The bag will contain a 26th Anniversary card from a member of the Dev, GM, or EM team as well as a token to redeem a collectible wall poster,” Broadsword announced. “Wall posters showcase box art from all Ultima & Ultima Online releases over the years. The older the game, expansion, or booster’s release date – the more rare it is to obtain.”

This year’s anniversary event isn’t as big as last 25th anniversary celebration , but at least you’ll still get a gift bag.

Meanwhile, Broadsword continues to work on the long-delayed New Legacy server, which unfortunately is still in testing. New Legacy is a fresh start server with a new ruleset and new mechanics that will make the classic MMORPG more accessible to new players.

The server was initially scheduled to launch in 2022 but was delayed with still no new release window announced. Several lucky players, however, were invited via an in-game lottery to test the new servers last month. Unfortunately, the playtest is covered by an NDA which means that you can forget about gleaning any information from the testers.
