TERA Console Update Results In Serious Reward Exploits
TERA. Bluehole recently released a console update that inadvertently resulted in two severe loopholes that players took advantage of to gain thousands of free in-game rewards.
“There were some players who exploited the intention of the ‘Battle Level -Sharing System’ and abused the bug to accumulate a tremendous amount of in-game property,” said Bluehole. The Battle bug allowed players to acquire rewards by repeatedly creating and deleting new characters. Others exploited the infinite rewards bug to, which as the name suggests, enabled players to claim an innumerable amount of in-game items.
Offending players have been punished with bans ranging from 1 week to 4 weeks depending on how many characters they re-rolled or how many rewards they received through the exploit. Compensation will also be given to all other players who logged-in at least once from February 18-24. The compensation package includes a free inventory expansion, a free bank expansion, 7 days of Elite Gold status, 300 TERA Coins, and 5 Battle levels. The package must be claimed within 7 days.
Bluehole has also made changes to the Battle Reward system. Free rewards are now non-tradeable and non-bankable to ensure that players can only use them on that character. A number of free rewards will also be changed.
Details can be found on the TERA Console official site.
