Tencent Games To Publish Paladins In China

Tencent Games has signed a deal to publish Paladins in China, with a closed beta beginning in the early months of 2017. Keep in mind, Paladins is still in Beta in Europe and North America.

Considering Tencent's enormous presence in China (not to mention America when you look close enough), the company is pushing Paladins as a big-dog eSport. A "series of activities" (whatever that means) will be held to distinguish the top Chinese Paladins players, who will be flown to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the first Paladins Invitation Tournament, from January 5-8, 2017.

We’re very excited to partner with Tencent to bring Paladins to China”, said Todd Harris, Hi-Rez Studios co-founder and COO.  “ Tencent’s track record of leadership and excellence with FPS games and esports offerings within China is impeccable. There is no better partner in China. We are especially excited for what this means for the game’s worldwide competitive future

A comic-book stylized trailer dropped to show Paladins off to its audience, complete with heavy metal guitar to get the blood pumping—which you watch below.

Paladins should be entering Early Access before the year ends, and will be free-to-play on PC and consoles.
