State Of Decay 2 Breaks 1 Million Player Mark In Its First Two Days

When State of Decay launched in 2013 it was riddled with bugs and glitches but somehow managed to hook the gaming community, selling more than 250,000 copies in just 48 hours. The legacy continues with the game’s sequel State of Decay 2. According to Microsoft, State of Decay 2 reached one million players within 48 hours of its May 22nd global launch in spite of the bugs that plague the game.

“Since Early Access for the Ultimate Edition on May 18 and the global release of the Standard Edition on May 22, we have had over a million survivors across the globe playing and creating their own zombie survival story. Throughout launch, there have been over six million combined hours of State of Decay 2 gameplay, and we’ve watched nearly 3.5M hours of gameplay across Mixer, Twitch and YouTube Gaming from over 41,000 unique broadcasts.”

Microsoft also collected a bunch of other interesting game statistics. Since the game’s launch, survivors have killed over 675 million zombies, thrown over 6 million fireworks and firecrackers, eaten over 6 million in-game snacks, and have read over 2 million books. The average player lifespan in the game is three days or 6 hours in real time.

As for the bugs, Microsoft says that fixing them is their first priority. "Putting this giant open-world zombie survival sim in the hands of fans has exposed some bugs and issues – we’ve addressed and will continue to address them as we hear more from players,” says the studio. “The team at Microsoft Studios and Undead Labs continue to work on updating the game to address these issues as our number one priority.”

Before you face the zombie apocalypse you might want to hear a few words of advice from a former basketball coach turned survivor. You can check that out in the video after the jump. We've also included the launch trailer below that just in case you haven't seen it.
