Square Enix Offers Employees And Officers Permanent Work From Home Option
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world early this year, many companies were forced to temporarily transition to a work-from-home setup. One video game company that successfully adapted to remote working conditions is Square Enix. It proved to be a huge success that Square Enix is now looking at implementing a permanent work-from-home option for all officers and employees starting on December 1st.
“Rather than utilizing work from home solely as a means of preventing infections during the current pandemic, the Company will establish it as a permanent and core program among the working styles it accommodates. In so doing, the Company hopes not only to create a flexible and diverse working environment, but also to further bolster productivity and help employees achieve the optimal work-life balance.”
According to Square Enix, the program will allow the company to diversify and create an organization that can more easily adapt to unexpected event such as disasters and employment model changes. As part of the program, the company will designate employees as “home-based” (working at least three days a week from home), or “office-based” (working at least three days a week from the office) depending on the nature of their work. Employees will have the option to change from home-based to office-based status once a month.
“By adopting a new style of working for a new world, the Company will enable employees to unleash even greater creativity as it continues to provide its customers around the world with content and services that fulfill their expectations. In so doing, the Company will strive to further enhance its corporate value,” said Square Enix.
