Skull And Bones Kicks Off Open Beta Testing On PC Ahead Of Its Long-Awaited Launch
It’s been an extremely long journey, but open beta testing on PC, the final playtest before the co-op open-world pirate game’s official launch next week.
Since Skull and Bones was first announced at E3 2017, it’s been delayed at least seven times in as many years, not counting any internal delays. Along the way, it’s evolved from a pirate MMO to a smaller scale co-op game with significantly more features than the original version.
Official launch is set for February 16 with a three-day head start beginning on February 13 for those who pre-ordered the Edition and Ubisoft+ subscribers. The Edition will set you back $89.99, but you can always grab the base edition for $59.99 and jump in along with everyone else on official launch day.
If you’re itching to unfurl your sails, however, the open beta is open to everyone via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect until February 11. All progress will carry over to the launch version but will be capped at the rank of Brigand, or Infamy Tier 6 Rank 1. There won’t be a time limit like the closed beta test and you’ll be able to play to your hearts content until the open beta servers go offline, you just won’t be able to raise your infamy once you hit the cap.
