Shroud Of The Avatar Temporarily Disables 10x XP Buff Due To Shared XP Exploit
Shroud of the Avatar to encourage players to stay home and play their game. The event featured a main storyline quest reset and a 10x XP boost on top of the 2x XP already in place. Unfortunately, the developers were forced to temporarily remove the buff because it was being exploited by players in conjunction with shared XP pools.
Shared XP pools between characters in the same were added by a developer a while back without Catnip’s knowledge and consent and has been in place ever since because it was hard to remove. “The challenge is that once done, it is hard to undo because we don't know how to fairly split xps between characters,” says Technical Director Chris Spears.
It wasn’t really too big of a problem until the 10x XP buff was implemented. Exploiters would create new characters, complete a couple of one-time quests, delete the alt, then make a new one to run the quests again.
The good news is that the developers have pinpointed the problem and will be rolling out a patch to remove the shared XP feature altogether. “Any xps currently in your pool will stay there and be shared between s,” says Spears. “Any new experience will only go toward the one character that earned them.” The handful of players who exploited the feature have also been punished.
Catnip has yet to announce when the XP buff will be turned on. Head over to the Shroud of the Avatar official forums for more info.
