Rising Thunder Starts Sending Alpha Invites

PC fighter Rising Thunder has announced via twitter that they have started sending out alpha invites this afternoon (July 29, 2015.) The 2D fighting game with giant 3D robot character models promises to bring the 1v1 competitive experience to a wider PC audience. Developed by Radiant Entertainment, Rising Thunder works fluidly with a keyboard and does away with complicated input combos.

The team behind Rising Thunder includes many fighting game industry veterans including brothers Tom and Tony Cannon who were collectively responsible for founding Evolution Champship Series (EVO) and develipign the latency-hiding protocol 'GGPO' which is used in many fighting games today. ing them is fighting game veteran and former Capcom employee Seth Killian. Perhaps the best illustration of the philosophy behind Rising Thunder is a quote from Seth Killian in an interview for PC Gamer:

I don’t know if Counter-Strike would be better if, you know, to throw a grenade you had to do a 360 motion with the mouse.

The game draws its inspiration from classic fighting games like the Street Fighter series, but hopes to be more accessible with simpler controls in the vein of the Super Smash Bros franchise. The game will also be free to play which will make much easier to reach a wide audience. If you're interested in trying the game out, its not too late to sign up for an Alpha invite. Even if you don't get accepted tonight, the developers will be sending out more invites in the days to come. on the official page Rising Thunder Official Page.
