Riders Of Icarus Producer's Letter Details Plans For Bots And Spammers
In a new Producer's Letter published on Friday, Riders of Icarus Producer Han Sol Junger discussed a topic that many of Riders of Icarus's players have become increasingly concerned about: bots and spammers. The team working on Riders of Icarus had previously believed that the best way to handle both groups was to silently work on countermeasures behind the scenes. Some countermeasures, such as temporarily removing Megaphone functionality and expanding players' block lists, even made it in-game.
But Junger and team understand that players are concerned that they are turning a blind eye to such issues when they pump out new content without addressing said issues. Junger reassures players that the team does hear them and that "more effective solutions" are on the way. A recent banning initiative saw "the removal of more than five thousand spammers, farmers, botters, and hackers." In the future, more Game Masters will be in-game at all times, an automated system will be put in place to "detect and ban swiftly and effectively," and a report system will be added so that players can report any "spammers, farmers, botters, and hackers" that get by unnoticed.
Furthermore, going forward, the team will work on communicating better. A "Weekly Banned Characters Report" has been promised, as well as regular updates.
