Rainbow Six Siege Matchmaking Bug Is Dropping PC Players Into Console Lobbies
A new bug in Rainbow Six Siege is wreaking havoc among console players as they find themselves in a turkey shoot against PC players. Obviously, this is an unfair advantage for those on PC who end up absolutely dominating the match due to the lack of aim assist on console versions of the tactical first-person shooter.
Since crossplay was enabled in Siege, PC players were supposed to remain in their own bubble while Xbox and PlayStation gamers could play together. Unfortunately, a matchmaking bug has inadvertently shattered the wall separating the PC and console versions and some players have naturally grabbed the chance to easily and quickly boost their ranks by shooting fish in a barrel.
Reports of this bug date back to late April and its quickly become a cause for concern as PC players who trigger the bug might end up getting stuck in console mode indefinitely. One player was reportedly able to intentionally trigger the bug for research purposes but is still being matched against console players even after undoing the exploit.
Ubisoft is hopefully now aware of the issue following a flood of complaints on both the game’s helpdesk and subreddit. In the meantime, all you can do is be on the lookout for the telltale sign that you’re up against a PC player, or at least someone who’s using a keyboard: the ability to lean without having to aim down their sights.
