Pirates of the Burning Sea Might Be Headed To Steam Later This Year

Pirates of the Burning Sea celebrated its 15th anniversary earlier this month and might be heading to Steam this year. The Steam release was teased Vision Online Games’ recently-published letter to the community where they outlined their general plans for the ship faring MMORPG this year.

I say might because the Steam port is still in the works and the developers ittedly have their work cut out for them. “There is a great deal of work to do in getting ready for Steam, much of it behind the scenes,” said Vision Online. “The work will range from engineering to financial, setting up new payment systems, routing and gating Steam players’ BSN purchases through Steam, perhaps even setting up a Steam server (which players of the live servers should also be able to access).”

On the topic of servers, the developers are also planning to open another server or two this year in addition to the legacy realm that it opened late last year. The team also plans to finish up its Antigua realm repairs and hire more developers.
