Path Of Exile Made Sentinel Mobs Far Too Difficult And Have Hit Them With The Nerf Bat
Sentinel expansion. The studio has apparently received plenty of on monster difficulty and is actively working to address those concerns.
After gathering and death data, the team decided to turn the difficulty down by a few notches with a hotfix shortly after the expansion launched.
“Transitioning from the old monster mod system to Archnemesis was meant to make rare and magic monster fights more challenging. And it certainly did,” said Producer Chris Wilson. “In general, we feel that in Path of Exile it's better to introduce things slightly too challenging than slightly too easy, and so we awaited player and death data to see if it was actually too hard for the average player.”
With the hotfix deployed, rare and magic monsters will still be challenging but not as difficult as they were on launch day. Rare monsters, which generally spawned with two Archnemesis modifiers or in some cases three or four, now spawn with just one with the chance of spawning with two or three. The team also reduced the overall difficulty of the modifiers, a list of which can be found here.
Some players also complained that the rewards weren’t at par with the difficulty of the mobs. As of now, the rewards will stay the same but Wilson assured the community that they’ll ensure that players receive the appropriate XP and drops relative to the difficulty of the monsters they’re facing. He also said that they’ll be further adjusting monster difficulty as needed over the next few days.
We have reduced the difficulty of Archnemesis modifiers and have reduced the quantity that spawn on rare monsters. There are two more areas of that we'd like to address. We've also prepared a list of Archnemesis modifiers and want they do. https://t.co/9wMAgwecVn pic.twitter.com/5AmapEBUXS
