Palworld Is Now The Most Played Game On Steam And Its Servers Are Struggling To Keep Up

Palworld is proving to be ridiculously popular as it skyrockets to the top of Steam’s most played games list just two days after its early access launch. The Pokémon-styled multiplayer survival game set an all-time peak concurrency of 1,291,967 players last night, claiming the top spot on the daily list and leaving Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 far behind on the all-time list.

It’s worth noting that the game is also available on Xbox Game which means that Steam players represent just a fraction of the game’s total player count. If the trend continues, Palworld is set to break Dota 2’s all-time peak concurrency record. It’s also currently the top-selling game on Steam, suring Valve’s Steam Deck and Counter-Strike 2 in of revenue.

Palworld’s popularity, however, does come with a big drawback as its servers struggle to accommodate the massive influx of players and resulting in widespread connectivity issues on both the PC and Xbox versions. Even its privately hosted dedicated servers are struggling to keep up with the demand.

Third-party server hosting service G-Portal has also been adding more hardware to try to cater to everyone that’s trying to buy or enter their servers. Developer Pocket Pair has since released a backend update to help alleviate the issues, but they’re more than likely going to persist as player numbers continue to balloon.
