Overwatch Celebrates Birthday With Anniversary Event

Overwatch is turning one year older, and everyone is invited to the party.

With over $1B in revenue and 30 million ed players around the world, big boy Overwatch is celebrating yet another milestone — its first anniversary coming up on May 24th this week.

Blizzard is rolling out the red carpet for its golden goose, and fans can drop in on the Overwatch Anniversary Event festivities from May 23rd to June 10th.

Those who don't own a copy of the game will still be able to in on the fun. Overwatch will be hosting a free-to-play weekend from May 26-29th, so make sure you get your client updated and ready before then.

Blizzard has not spoiled fans with all the event details just yet, and so far there has only been a few sneak previews and leaks about the birthday bash.

What we do know is that there will be Anniversary Lootboxes with a bevy of new skins and cosmetics inside, three new arena maps, and a special event which includes a payload mode according to sound file leaks from reddit s.

The Overwatch China Facebook page has posted their own teaser video confirming at least four new Anniversary skins, with the showcase including Bastion, Pharah, Soldier:76 and Zarya. Check out the new skins in the video below.

With only a few days left before the official kickoff of the Anniversary event, Blizzard will likely stay mum as to not ruin the surprise. Fans will have to be patient and sit tight on the objective till then. See you at the party!
