Blizzard Partners With Savvy Game Group For Its New Overwatch 2 Tournament Series
Blizzard Entertainment announced the end of its long-running Overwatch League a few days before Christmas. The studio has now partnered with Saudi Arabian video game and esports company Savvy Game Group to usher in the next chapter of the hero shooter’s professional tournament series.
The new Overwatch Championship Series is a multi-regional competitive circuit that will run in North America, Europe, North America, and the Middle East. The tournament series will also be available in Asia courtesy of South Korean esports organizer WDG. Each region will host its own qualifiers and tournaments that will culminate in two international tournaments: Dreamhack Dallas Major from May 31-June 2 and the World Finals at Dreamhack Stockholm which will be held from November 22-24.
“A thriving esports scene is important to a game as competitive as Overwatch 2, and we’re very excited to be entering this next era for the franchise with EFG,” said Overwatch 2 executive producer Jared Neuss.
