NetEase Acquires Detroit: Become Human Developer Quantic Dream
Chinese video game and technology company NetEase has acquired another video game developer to add to its growing list of subsidiaries. The latest addition to the NetEase family is Paris-based developer Quantic Dream, the studio behind the smash hit sci-fi action adventure game Detroit: Become Human.
NetEase has apparently been investing in the studio for the past few years and finally decided to acquire it in full, marking its first European studio acquisition. According to the official press release, Quantic Dreams will remain independent from NetEase and will continue to work on its Star Wars game, Star Wars: Eclipse.
Quantic Dream was founded in 1997 and has released a bare handful of games since then, including Heavy Rain, Fahrenheit, The Nomad Soul, and Beyond: Two Souls. The of the deal were not disclosed.
