Krafton Unveils PUBG: Blindspot, a New 5v5 Top-Down Tactical Shooter – Demo Launches Feb 21

Krafton, the South Korean developer best known for PUBG: Battlegrounds, announced a new 5v5 top down tactical shooter today titled PUBG: Blindspot. The game was previously known as Project Arc and has officially been named today and is launching a playable demo on February 21.

PUBG: Blindspot aims to compete with more traditional shooters like Counter Strike 2 while differntiating itself with its less conventional top down camera. The game bills itself as a 'fast-paced, strategy-driven, game with realistic gunplay'. Blindspot's demo is launching with 10 playable characters, each with their own signature weapons and tools, 3 team deathmatch maps, and 4 demolition maps (plant the bomb, defuse the bomb).

PUBG: Mobile and PUBG: Battlegrounds remain Krafton's most successful games and Blindspot looks to be an attempt to expand the core PUBG franchise outside of the battle royale genre. Time will tell if it proves successful or not, but the top-top camera at least helps it stand apart from the countless other tactical shooters out there.

No word on the game's business model just yet, but I suspect it will be free to play.
