Fractured Online’s Duping Exploit And Server Issue Forces Another Big Rollback

It’s another chaotic week over at emergency downtime earlier this week ends with another big server rollback. The sandbox MMORPG’s were taken offline on Sunday in response to a new duping exploit, the investigation of which tipped the developers off to a faulty server hard drive.

The exploit has since been fixed and all illicit currency gained from it has been purged from the game. The server issues, however, required another massive rollback despite the studio’s assurances that it will only be a “short” one.

“After much trying, we didn’t manage to correct and use the world saves done after the evening (CET) of the 13th on Terra, which are corrupted due to the faulty hard drive of the server,” reports Jacopo Gallelli, founder and CEO of Dynamight Studios. “The system that was meant to catch issues with saves didn’t notice anything because the world actually kept making saves, just not usable ones.”

“Because of this, the world of Terra has been rolled back by about 1 day,” he adds. “It’s just the world (houses and cities), not the characters, and it’s just Terra. Given the low population nowadays, losses are minimal. We apologize for the trouble though and are committed to improving our reporting tools so that we can intervene immediately in the future and minimize rollback time.”

It’s the second major rollback that Fracture Online has suffered in the two months since it relaunched into early access, the first of which occurred the deletion of all player houses in the game.

Third time’s the charm? Hopefully not.
